Outer Islands Partnership

Outer Islands Partnership

Based in Santa Cruz, California, the Outer Islands Partnership, Inc. (www.outerislands.org) is a nonprofit organization that was founded with the goal of developing global opportunities and resources to support the local needs in the outer islands of Micronesia. We envision a world in which the vast resources in the developed countries around the world enable the vulnerable women and children in the underdeveloped countries in the small remote islands in the Pacific to have decent health care, opportunities to help themselves through economic development, and for the children to be afforded the best educational opportunities available.

Mission

The mission of the Outer Islands Partnership, Inc. is to build sustainable global partnerships to support the local needs of women and children in the impoverished and remote outer islands in the Pacific island nation of Micronesia.

Programs

Education: To build partnership improve educational opportunities for the people in the outer island communities of Micronesia. Our approach hinges on building global partnerships with individuals, organizations, schools, businesses to help provide resources in scholarships, books, and teacher training for the developing outer island communities of Micronesia.

Healthcare: Being so far removed from the main centers, the outer islands lack basic healthcare services. Our long-term goal is to build multi-purpose community clinics on some of the centrally located outer islands to serve their needs. On the immediate needs, we organize teams of volunteer medical personnel to go out to Chuuk to offer free serves to the people.

Economic Development: To build partnerships with globally-based businesses, organizations, and individual to alleviate poverty in the outer islands through mutually beneficial opportunities.
